Pic spam: A trip to Drøbak

Thursday last week I had the day off and as the weather was magnificent, my mother and myself decided to take a trip to Drøbak, a small fjordside town about 45 minutes south of Oslo.
The reason for going there was not only because it's a beautiful small town, but because thats's where my granmother was born and grew up, and she lived there most of the time up until about four years ago. Drøbak is definitely one of my fave spots in this country:

We first took a trip to the cemetary where my great-grandparents are buried. Very beautiful place.

The view of the Oslo fjord. That looming hill in the background is Håøya island and the small islet behind the ship is Oscarsborg forteress, which played a very important defensive role during the invasion of Norway in WWII.

As previously mentioned, this is my very fave time of the year - everything's in full bloom!

Look, real forget-me-nots!

Just a normal downtown Drøbak street. Who wouldn't want to live here? I know I do!

We had lunch at "Skipperkroen" (Skipper's Inn) but thirty ago it used to be called "Strandkaféen" (the Beach Café). The reason I know that is because my granparents used to run it. My mother told me about how she and my dad used to have a blast working here in the summers. Must have been wonderful.

My granmother used to live on the first floor in this house. It's situated right by the water and that kitchen bay window has a fantastic view over the fjord. We spent quite a few summers here, but I was so bummed to see that the house which used to be white has now been painted in some hideous beige and brown colour. What were they thinking!?

Drøbak is also famous for Santa's house, right in the middle of the city square.

Although the inside is really lovely, I clearly felt when stepping inside that Christmas is still very far away...

Then I had a big ice cream at the city square before going back home again.
All in all an awesome day! :o)

Inspirational Saturday

Did I mention I LOVE Pinterest?!
I have found some more pictures which inspire me:

I love these vintage clocks, especially the middle three. I've yet to see one in shops around here, but if I find one, I'll definitely get one.

One thing I would love to start doing is decoupaging, I love this bucket! I would love to start with something like this.

And eventually I would love to decoupage  a table like this. I've never seen anything like that for sale in the shops, that's for sure.

I'm currently about to pimp my IKEA chair in the living room, but what I would really like is a little nook with a cosy chair like this. Look how comfy it looks!

And that's it for now. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Interior picspam, just because

Staring a new project tomorrow, but in the meantime:

Having pretty calendar and shopping list helps... everything, really. Calendar/planner by youtube vlogger Louise Pentland/Sprinkle of Glitter and bought on Amazon.

This used to be outside on my balcony. Brought it inside because I liked the faded colours. The dirty flowers will be replaced ASAP.

My DIY project with pretty drinking straws.

I love the room scents from Crabtree & Evelyn. My fave is the lavender one but the others have pretty and decorative bottles too.

I love this tray from Nille. This was one of the things I was drooling at in the shop for a long time before buying it. Primarily because I didn't know where I would put it. Turnso ut it's perfect on my kitchen table.

New dishes: Butterfly from Nille

Finally May! This is my very favourite month of the year! :o)

As I might have mentioned previously. Nille is one of my favourite stores: www.nille.no
Years ago, Nille originally wasn't much than some sort of outlet sale. I remember them having the most horrid nicknacks - very cheap, granted. But over the years they have turned into a very decent interior shop and I absolutely love their stuff. It's my go-to store for candles and napkins.

When they brought out their spring collection right after Easter, I immediately fell in love with their Butterfly collection.

For weeks I circled the store drooling at the dishes and cups, thinking there was no point on spending so much money on something I didn't really need. But the more I dropped by, the more I wanted it.

Then one week, the dishes were on sale. And as you can imagine, I pounced on it like an eagle. I originally wanted to get four plates, four bowl and four cups, but in the end I settled for three cups, and three plates.

But let me tell you, I couldn't be happier with my decision. I use them for breakfast every morning and they just make my day better!

Thank you, Nille!
